Hi!

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted here. I’ve been having too much fun in my other blog, www.scrapbit.com, making cards and scrapbook pages.

What’s new… nothing really. Just been really busy with work, school, and family. Drew got an A in economics, yeah!!! He’s been really good at explaining the whole economic imbalance with with. The me who’s freaking out about the recession and quite depressed each time I look to see how much $$ we’ve lost today in the stock market.

Well, M’s birthday is coming soon. So we’re busy getting her princess party together. Laters and if you have time, visit my other blog. It’s more fun :D Actually I’m thinking of letting Drew take over this. He’s so much funnier than me. You’d have great laughs when you visit.

Happy Holidays!

Wishing everybody a wonderful new year!

Except for a few life events, we had a wonderful 2007 and we hope to have another great year in 2008. For those who visits our site regularly, thank you, and we know it’s not the most interesting, but for our close families and friends shows you what we’re doing here in Missouri. If you want to see Savitri’s arts and crafts stuff, visit her site at www.scrapbit.com.

It’s been five years, we arrived in MO Dec. 22nd, 2002, and here we are still. We always talk about moving but who knows if it’ll ever happen anytime soon. Many different options to choose from and they’re all so exciting but for now, this is our home and except for the tornado, we couldn’t have asked for more. We love our home that we built, the jobs that we have, and the friends that we’re making. I know I never thought of this possible but the small town living is pretty nice (and it’s how it’ll be for us if we have the option). It’s a great place to raise a family and it’s really not that far from the city. Emma loves her place here and that’s what is important to us now.

We hope the new year will be a better!

Mommy’s Yuppie Store

This came out of Emma’s mouth, “Mommy likes to shop at the yuppie store by the mall.” I thought Drew’s been putting words in my little girl’s mouth but I guess she came up with it herself. I mean Drew did help. He always say I’m a yuppie from the day we met (I’m not sure what a yuppie is). There were many reasons why he called me this but it was mostly because I liked to buy stuff at the “healthier” food store. Organic stuff is easier to come by nowadays but back then, in Boise, I had to go to the Co-Op or shop at the Saturday Boise market to get what I needed. When we moved here it was tough. A few things at BiLo’s, some at Parkers, a few at WalMart, and in the summertime the local people (still, can’t compare to the Boise market!). Then the base started carrying more stuff and so we’d shop there for most of our stuff. But then they got random, they’d carry one item and then they’d quit some shopping trips later. So now we’re just shopping in town (the stores carry more now) and the city.

After Christmas

I’m suppose to be sleeping but I thought I’d pop in and write a bit.

We had a nice Christmas. Emma got everything she wanted. She wanted three things from Santa, a sleeping bag, a cash register, and a computer. From mom and dad, she just wanted us to give to other kids who are less fortunate, so we adopted three this year, but of course we felt odd not giving her anything although she insisted and so I got her a little robe, some Bratz Kids clothes, and a little dress from Hanna Andersson. Daddy got her a few movies. Drew got a lot of what he wanted for his hobby and I got a few new gadgets and stamps too.

Shaklee Review

We didn’t get the products just because it was featured in Oprah. We knew about it from a friend and after talking to Susan, who coincidently stamps too, and is a distributor we decided to purchase.

We’ve been getting greener and greener each and everyday. Since I was in Boise, I have been into organic/natural and healthy food, and it wasn’t hard to persuade Drew to convert. It’s like one of those thing, once you’ve tried it, you can’t go back. Although a few things taste a bit weird, for example many organic wheat pasta, taste like cardboard, many things really make your food taste better. Plus, I really believe that due to our food intake, we hardly get sick. Emma just got over a minor cold but this was the first time she got sick this year. For a toddler who goes to daycare/school, I think that says a lot. Anyway, even though the cost is slightly higher (and in Warrensburg, you need to go to a few different stores/vendors to get all that you need), we thought that the benefits outweighs the cost and really, since we’re both working, we can’t really say we can’t afford it. Eating healthy has also forced me to make many more things from scratch. I can’t make pasta from scratch but many other easy items, e.g. pancakes, waffles, pasta sauce, we do.

What I Want for Next Year

If somebody ask me what I want as a gift, I want all handmade stuff OR tools to make handmade items. Ok, I don’t want just any handmade stuff, I want cute and well made handmade stuff or really yummy homemade dishes.

I’ve gotten a couple early Christmas presents or just goodies in general and my favorite items this year are marshmallows from my co-worker Holly and my friend’s, Guenevere, sugar cookies. Actually the cookies Emma and Guen made together. I’m sure the little one had very little to do with the taste but she did help :D Oh, I almost forgot, I got some hot cocoa mix from church for volunteering at the St. Nick’s workshop, and that mix was delicious!!! I’ve also gotten a few cards and my favorite is from Kathy — not sure if she made it but it looks handmade and I love it. She has lovely hand writing too.

Happy Holidays!

I haven’t been blogging much here because I’ve been busy making Christmas stuff. Plus it’s just been more fun singing Christmas songs with Emma — we even did a Mariah Carey number — all I want for Christmas is you. Whoohoo… ha ha… But, so that this site isn’t lonely, let me share you something holiday-ish, this is Emma FAVORITE song, and if you’re wanting to see what kind of Christmas stuff I’m doing, check out my craft site, www.scrapbit.com :D

No Mood to Write

There’s not much to write about.
We’re so busy.
Drew’s swamped with school and upcoming test.
Savitri is finishing up a class and getting ready for two spring ones.
Emma think Santa is going to come tomorrow.
We’re quite happy.
The family’s doing great.
The pup is learning and growing.
The dog and cat plays.
I’ve got Christmas stuff all over the living room.
Not motivated to finish decorating.
Can I just sit and not do anything? :)

Here’s my office… geek la ville :D

This is the current love of my work life. My 30″ screen and as you can see, when it’s in screen saver mode, I get a good view of some pacific island beach. My machine, or my Mac, is a super computer. It’s got everything plus 8 gigs or ram and who knows what fast processor it’s got. It’s very nice but sometimes I find it still lagging. I’m not sure what it is that’s causing it. But in this machine I have the typical Apache and it’s family running and also a ColdFusion server. I run Joomla locally and I can work and view my CF pages on my Mac. I also have all the version of Adobe since version 7 to CS3. There are tons of cool free software too, like Adium, Cyberduck, etc. installed. And oh, I can share files between the Mac and the PC :D My PC is nice too but since the Mac is only a few months old compare to a two year old PC I’m a bit partial :D

Vermont, Ring, Yuppiness, and $632 on Ebay

I have this obsession, or desire, to move or at least check out Vermont. If you read the previous post you would have read about the different states that I’m interested in. I have no stinkin’ idea why or how I got to VT but I really want to go there. I looked at houses a few days ago, in Stowe. There’s this one super cute one for $299k. Love it!

Our 2008 Vacation

Think we’re going to do two U.S. trips next year. One to Idaho and another to Texas. I really miss Idaho, the Boise market (especially), the friends, and the northern parts.

Max Week 7 + Christmas

Lets start with Christmas… asked Emma what she wants and she said she wants three things from Santa. A cash register, a computer like mommy’s (pink) and a sleeping bag. I asked her what she wants from daddy and she said a boy Bratz kid for her girl one. Finally I asked her what she wants from mommy and she said that she has a lot of toys already. I asked her if she wants clothes and she said no. She then said that I can buy for another little girl who doesn’t have a lot of toys. I asked her again to make sure and that’s what she wanted. So this Christmas Emma’s going to help me buy for another little girl instead of getting a present from me. I’m not sure if fully understands this but we’re so very proud of her!!

Does Your Cat Drool?

Ours does. We have this outside cat, who sometimes comes in, that we are feeding and taking care of (we even neutered him, tick medicate him with the good stuff, and gave him his shots… or the vet did). He’s really sweet, tolerates the dogs super well, but he’s no lap cat. He’s actually a male version of a bitch (does this make him an asshole?) and plain refuse to be held or cuddled on demand. Drew can hold him for a few seconds but not me. I have a tattoo on my chest… “remember my claw, Simba Boy.”

Doggy Food

Kato, my good old and super sweet (dead) cocker spaniel, had a sensitive stomach. He’d puke if the food isn’t right or he got into the trash or human food in general. He was always like this and so since he was a wee one he was on Sensible Choice (a trainer recommended it). The ingredients were good and the price was right but it was a pain to get it. In Boise, I could buy it at an Ace Hardware. But not all carried it. When we got to Missouri, we had to go to Petco to get it.

In Search of a Cushion Diamond

I think buying a diamond is one of the hardest thing to do, especially a cushion cut diamond.

I had a ring, or two actually, and lost both of them within a few months of each other. I felt really bad, still do, but Drew has allowed me to purchase another one. This was months ago — actually even before I lost the rings since we were going to redesign them anyways — the rings were a bit too big for me). The first thing I did was looked for styles. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go for the slick modern look (which was the look that I had for my previous ring, a cathedral style ring with an eternity ring) or some something more antique, which I’ve been falling in love more and more (just antiques and old stuff in general). After looking and looking and looking (and looking… Drew’s sick of me looking already), and going on our trip, I just couldn’t get over the antique look.

Max, Week 5

Has he improved as an adopted dog? Definitely! He’s not so afraid anymore and piddles left and right. He actually got a lot of exposure last weekend. Between going to the city and homecoming parade, that boy had a lot of new, and sometimes scary things, happening to him. But Max made it through with flying colors! He was soooo scared at the parade, peeing on me and trying to run away, but after four big booms or so, he was fine. He was even sniffing close to the road trying to check things out. Hopefully he’ll remember this experience and will not be terrified of parades.

In the city we went to a holistic pet food store, Brookside Barkery, and Max loved that (which dog wouldn’t right?). Then we went to the park and Westport. Max was not sure of Westport… cars and trucks passing through but he loved the walk through the residential area.

We didn’t go to doggy school this week. The weather’s been bad and the instructor teaches outside. So we’ll catch up next time. But despite the missing class, Max can sit and lay down really well now. I love him :D

Boise vs Kansas City

I never thought that I’d be in Warrensburg for almost five years (end of Dec. is the five year mark). It’s a small town and I never thought that I’m the small town kind of girl. But, despite the size, it is not far from KC and I thought I’d list the likes and dislikes of living in and around the two cities:

At the end of week three Max could sit and lay down on command. Yeahhh!!!! But, he still can’t pee for Drew. Need a puppy psychologist ya think?

Max is getting his last set of shots this Friday and Shady’s getting her teeth cleaned. Then Max is going to spend a day with me shopping at the doggy store :D I was scheduled to go to a scrapbook expo that day in KC. But with Max’s peepee issue, I just can’t leave him with Drew. So until he can pee with Drew supervising, I guess I can’t do any extended leaves.

You’re thinking I’m nuts, huh? Naaah, just being a responsible human to my pup. Max also went to puppy class. He had such a great time playing and learning new tricks. We’re going again and can’t wait to see what Max learns next.

On the house subject, we got it clean!!!! Yeah!!!! Clothes put away, most everything dusted, everything else put away, and now just little touch ups like bathroom routine, picking up every time, etc. It’s nice. Glad I have a neat freak of a husband.
