Living with a 17-month-old

by: Savitri

At 17 month Emma is not just walking but running, jumping, and hopping. The hopping is a new thing. We just learned that this weekend. We have been hopping around the house like a bunny.

Emma’s vocabulary has also grown tremendously. It’s so quick that I quit counting. She will pretty much copy whatever I say. She doesn’t understand or remember half of it but she’ll say them. Her comprehension is really good too. For her age I think she’s doing well.

Her parents as teachers educator, Karla, gave us a visit and she thought that Emma is doing very well. Karla said that at 24 months on average kids understand 50 words. It doesn’t mean the kids can say 50 words, it just means understanding. Emma already know 35+ signs and who knows how many spoken words. So she’s doing fine there. Physically Emma is growing well too. She can even kick while holding a ccup. Yeah, watching mommy do Tae Bo does that.

She’s fun. I feel like I have a friend now. She tires me out though at times but for the most part she’s awesome. I wouldn’t trade her for the world!

Can’t wait for Drew to come home. We can’t wait to show him all the new tricks Emma can do.
