Drew’s scheduled to come home at 6 p.m. today. We can’t wait!!! I’m planning on leaving work early in case it’s like it was when he came home from Kuwait… an hour early.
I’ve been telling Emma that daddy’s coming home. I think she understands. She knows that daddy’s on an airplane and that he’s in Guam. We I told her he was in Hawaii and he’ll be flying home but I think that’s too much info for a little girl. So I think she knows. She’s excited and it’s just hours now till we see him!

Drew is scheduled to come home tomorrow late evening. We can’t wait!! He is “stuck” in Hawaii right now at a beach front hotel. So he’s having a good life courtesy of the red, white, and blue. Compare to Guam, Hawaii’s heavan.
I’ll post photos when he’s back. So check back then!
Is Emma excited? Not really, what were you expecting, but she’s been asking for daddy more often becuase I keep telling her that daddy’s coming home soon.
In a few weeks Emma’s starting a new daycare. Her current daycare lady, Kristi, and her family is moving to Alaska. We’ll sure miss her but I think Emma will have a great time with Mandy. Momma might miss taking Emma to daycare even if Emma is sick but hey, I was spoiled.
Now, Emma was suppose to start gymnastics but I forgot to go. URGH!!! Bad mommy!!! So we’re going to wait till life is back to normal again and we’ll take her.

Emma and myself went to Powell Garden today for the first time with our friends Lisa and Jason. We had a really great time!

Emma at Powell Garden
First we saw the butterfly exhibits. The butterflies were very beautiful but I think they could have done the exhibit better. It was just too crowded and since the conservatory was already warm in the first place (the butterflies like it toasty) the whole room was twice as hot with all the people in it. But, the exhibit was only a two weekend thing so that was probably why the garden was so busy.
Then we walked around the garden and looked at all of the Treemendous Treeshouse exhibit. That was a lot of fun, especially because you can either go in or play around or in the tree house. Emma had fun chasing orange balls near one of the tree house.
The garden was beautiful and I plan on going in the spring or early summer when all the flowers are in bloom. We might go this October for the Spooktacular event. Not sure what it is but it sounds exciting.

Don’t have a child if you’re not ready. Don’t have a child if you’re not a morning person!
Emma usually gets up at 7:30 a.m. and that’s even after I wake her up. On weekends she’ll sleep till 8 or even 9. But today she thought it would be cool to wake up at 6:30 a.m. So she woke up and of course she wanted me to wake up with her. So she poked me and kept calling “momma, momma” and over and over again I would say, “go back to sleep emma.” That wasn’t going to happen and Emma still wanted me to wake up. So she got on my back, sat down, and started jumping up and down. She’s not super heavy, just 23.5 lbs, but man, when that much weight is jumping up and down you while you’re half asleep, it’s definately no fun! So she won, I got up, got her breakfast and played.

Those who try to shop alone with an 18 month old are brave souls. Unless I really, really have to, I will never do that again.

Under the clothes rack
Emma was all over the place. She could not sit still in her stroller. Each time we stopped at a store, she wanted to go down. In some stores it was alright but not in others. First of all I was shopping in one of those outdoor malls, people around her calls it The Plaza, and since it was kind of nice outside, some stores had the door open. So besides Emma running through every single clothes rack there was also a good chance of her running outside. Now I did try to hold her when she would not stop pulling shirts off the rack. It use to work really well because she liked mommy carrying her around. But no, she wanted to get down. She wiggled and wiggled and when she couldn’t get down, her little temper came out and she started hitting my face and pulling my hair. After a few threats, useless threats, Emma received her first public very discrete spanking on the thigh. Yeah, I made sure nobody saw…. didn’t want social services to come after me. But I think the spanking mostly hurt her ego than anything else. She screamed of course but after calming down, she listened to everything I said.
I mean for the most part she was pretty cute. She was prancing around, laughing, dancing, and zig zagging from one rack to the other, hiding in between the clothes but at the same time it was nerve wrecking.
Then in another store I was standing in line to pay. Emma was playing in the dressing room. Since it was the Children’s Place the dressing room was kids friendly and Emma was having a lot of fun admiring herself and checking out the different feet on the floor. Then I heard somebody say, “look, she’s butt naked.” Without looking I knew that was my child that person was referring to. Sure enough, I looked and there was Emma running out of the dressing room with her butt wagging back and forth. I called her name, she stopped, gave me a smirk, and ran off while laughing. I chased after her and tried to put on another diaper but that didn’t get me anywhere. So I pulled out the training pants and that was another fight. One foot in the other foot out. She wasn’t too happy with me but I managed to win that battle.
There were more but those were the highlights. It was tiring. My two-hour-plan went to four hours. URGH! No more. Well I guess now it doesn’t matter. I’m on a buying freeze till after Christmas. We have a no buying anything for ourselves two months before our birthdays and christmas rule. Unfortunately for me my birthday is in October. So last weekend was my last weekend to shop.
