Xmas Shopping
I hate shopping. Especially Christmas shopping. Wait, rewind…. I love shopping, but I hate going shopping. At this point I’m almost leaning towards 100% online shopping. The shipping seems worth all the hassle of driving, finding a parking spot, fighting the crowd, not finding the item (oh, but it is available if you order it online), and having sore feet.
Today I went to the city, alone, to get some Savitri time and also to finish up the shopping. Called yesterday and the toy is available. When I got there, of course they’re all gone. Went to PBK, and again the one I needed was not in stock. I walked around the Plaza for an hour and left with a $7.50 shirt from TCP. I spent more at Joann’s. Stopped there for some fabric and ended up with some chalk, a blending pen, and water color pens… yes, they’re pens. Suppose to be “NOT MESSY.” We’ll see, right?
I think I was starting to hate the consumerism of Christmas. Christmas is suppose to be the birth of Christ, not the maxing out of the credit card season. When I was growing up Christmas was going to church and sometimes we’d exchange one gift. Now, it’s ok if you have the money and you want to buy a lot of stuff. The one I have a problem with are people who doesn’t have the money. So I was at the store and this lady was talking to her partner. Basically they’re broke but her cart didn’t have any indication of their financial situation. She said she’ll just charge them. Ahh…. This was interesting because I just read an article, either MSN or Yahoo on how people would charge their Christmas purchases, get their bill in February and spend the rest of the year paying it off. Wow!
I went to B&N after too but decided that there’s nothing really worth buying. I did get a latte, but that was it. I thought that I’d save a bit buying them online, free shipping too, and save a few penny. Leaving B&N I decided that I really want to be a financial consultant, I need to get my business started this break, think I should take up hand writing analysis as a hobby, be more successful career wise, and save more. I need to be more ambitious and be more discipline with myself. I think that’s my new year’s resolution.
