The Organic Splurge

Did we tell you we love eating healthy? There are pros and cons to this habit. The good: We are healthy. We don’t get sick as often as some (least just from our observation), we believe that we’ll be healthy old farts, and in a way we’re helping the environment. The bad: We’ll run out of retirement money cause we’ll be 110 before we die :\

So to compensate, instead of the 97/3 meat I get the 90/10. I think that will lessen my life from 97 to 90 :D Doesn’t that sound logical? I mean yeah, it’s great if I can see more but come on, 97 is pretty old! I think I’ll be content to live until 90. Ok, you’re starting to think that I’m actually dumb :D

Anyways, you might think it’s so much more than buying regular food but I really don’t think so. Last shopping spree we spent $130 and that wasn’t all food AND it was for 2 weeks of groceries. We do buy fruits and veggies once a week but still, I think it averages out to about $300/mo. I’ve seen others spend more!! Drew’s always amazed because we get all these items and we pay that much. But I think we’re able to because we buy less red meat and less junk food. A bag of chips, cookies, and oooh cigarette, adds up. Especially that last bit — it’s a good down payment on a car!!

So yes we snack but not often and when we do it’ll be a banana, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. You get the picture. We don’t go through the fast food restaurants as much either. Those things add up! We’ll have a nice sushi dinner or try some other fine cuisine in KC. Fine doesn’t mean expensive. I refer to fine as delicious and healthy.

Why am I blabbing about all this? I just everybody to be healthy and also keep a balanced weight. The French people have always been known for their good eating habits and also that they walk more than we do. But because of the fast food industry, more are facing weight gain issues.

We do have our occassional popcorn and cookies but we still move of our eating habit good. Thanks for reading!
