Eeek…

Savitri

April is almost over! Wow, time is flying by. But at the same time, it’s feeling oh so sloooooow.

We’re going to Indonesia this August and I know I am very excited. Drew and Emma will go too and this will be their first time that my family will meet them. After three years, Drew is finally ok about going. He’s finally convinced that if something bad is going to happen to us, it will happen anyways, no matter where we’re at. He’s always so protective of us, and that’s very sweet of him, but at the same time I really need to visit my family. So I’m hoping that everything will be alright and we’ll be able to return in one piece and breathing. We already booked the tickets, we have dates and all that wonderful stuff, but haven’t purchased them. Which is really convenient because the base has to give us a thumbs up or down on the trip. This is the part that sucks. So, there’s a chance that we might not be able to go if the base thinks that it’s too dangerous.

So, even though it’s already the end of April it feels like it’ll never be August anytime soon. Ahhh… never satisfied…

On our return, we will be stopping in Germany and we’re hoping that some of our friends who are stationed in England will be able to meet up with us for the weekend. That’s be really cool if we can do that. So in my spare time I’ve been researching all the neat places to visit in Germany. In particular the Romantische Strasse or the Romantic Road. Since our airline has a layover in Frankfurt the Romantische Strasse was a convenient option. We can follow the road all the way down to Fussen and oh, that one town where the olympics was once held. We can drive through Austria and just a relaxing no strict itinerary trip. Yes we might miss a lot but we hope to come back again to see some more. We’re really excited about taking Emma too these different places. She’s already trying to learn Indonesian and she’s very excited about it too which makes it easier to teach. She can’t wait to ride the big airplane (though she’ll probably get sick of the big airplane after a few hours) and see grandma Swan :D

Between now and our return I’ll post all the findings. Maybe one day it’ll help you with your trip. One item I’ll like to share is where we’re purchasing our tickets from. We’re taking Singapore Airline, THE airline to be on going to Asia. Very good safety ratings and the service is top quality. Since I moved here for college I have been using this company. I have no idea how I found them. I think my International advisor recommended them to me. It doesn’t matter, but they can get tickets, LA/NY to Indonesia for around $750/rt before tax and surcharges. So for about $1100 (yeah, the tax is high), you can go to the other side of the world and back. Very good deal for SQ! For $75 you can have a Frankfurt or Singapore stop if you go the east coast route. What’s amazing is that the price hasn’t changed much since 1995. Again, awesome deal. The company is Bali Barong Tour and Diane Embree’s the lady that I always work with. Nice company and people too.
