Day 38: The Move

by: Savitri

I didn’t forget or miss day 37. It’s in M’s camera and I don’t have an SD card reader. So I am still going on my project 365!

Today’s photo is a photo of our vintage suitcases. We like to collect old things. The Drew and I are like night and day, drunk and sober, thick and thin. You get the picture… DIFFERENT. But we respect each other, stay sweet to one another (most of the time) and have a few things in common. One is antiquing.

This picture reminds me of our BIG move across the pond. We’re getting ready to schedule the motherlode pick-up. Yup yup yup, it’s getting closer! It’s so exciting and I’ve learned a lot already from Googling (amazing what one can find) and message boards. The last few weeks the husband and I have been oogling at houses on the Internet. There’s one house that seems promising. Where the house is at the town seems old, the school is good, the pub is down the road, it’s not close to the base, and there’s a garage big enough for Jane – the ’62 Impala. It’s not a period home but it seems comfortable and with a few splashes of paint and decor we think we can make it really homey. Housing has been really hard. There are many of them but not too many that fits our needs. The charming period homes have either been too far away or not within a good catchment (school district) and the ones nearby would cost us an arm and a leg to heat up — and probably wouldn’t pass base inspection (in the U.K. the base has to inspect the houses before a military personnel can rent).
