Day 75: Practicing

by: Savitri

Niece

I am comfortable with my camera when the kids or the husband are on the other end. But when it comes to anybody else, it’s not as so. That’s why I like taking pictures of kids without their parents nearby (which usually then ends up being family kids only at get togethers) when I want to experiment with other people. But today I thought I’d try older kids or what they like to be called: teenagers. I got a couple of them with me this week so I might as well take advantage of them while they’re willing, ha!

I wish I had taken more photography classes at the place I work at instead of auditing random classes like I have been. What I did in college ages ago, although the theory still applies, was just so film {::SMILE}. So I think one of my goal later after we settle in the UK and either sell the house or have a good renter is to take some online photo class/seminar or just do more challenges from the many photography forums and sites. Part of being a good photographer is to have some sort of perspective/point of view/style that’s appealing. Although I believe that the theories can be learned from the classroom this is one thing that one either has or don’t have. I don’t know what I have really but I’d like to try and develop something — even though my last semester photography instructor said I have a style already. It has something to do with my use of light on the subject. It just needs to be cultivated.

Day 74: No Grandma!

by: Savitri

Jovie Crying

Jovie’s got a bad case of stranger anxiety. She didn’t quite take to grandma. But hey, it was day one. We still have a few more to go so we’ll see.

Day 73: Last Crop

by: Savitri

Curly Hair Day

I went to my last crop in the good old ‘Burg last weekend. A lot of the girls there I knew from UCM. I had a great time and worked on five scrapbook pages with Jovie right next to me. If she wasn’t there I think I could confidently say that each page took me an hour or less to do. I got everything hours before quitting time. I only brought five sets of photos.

I’ll miss my friends here. We both didn’t think we’d stay long or even make friends but we did.
