It’s just how much it cost to get the coop ready (bedding and feeding gadgets) and food for the chickens. M ate the first egg although Drew got a bite to taste and the I thought the look was divine. Nice yellow yolk! Just like how fresh eggs should be!
It’s not a great photo but introducing…. from left to right… That, Dirty Harriette, Big Mama and Angel. Can you guess which human named each hen? I’ll take a better photo of these girls later. After they’ve adjusted and I can get closer without them freaking out. One, Big Mama, is suppose to be ready for eggs… or one.
These chickens are adopted chickens. Kind of like adopted pets from a dog or cat rescue. They were either rescued or they were given up by their owners. There are a lot of chicken farmers around here and these chickens, which can now only lay one or a few eggs a day, need to be replaced by more productive younger ones.
Who doesn’t like free stuff, right? We look forward to picking up our first egg!!
We’ve got a big (unkept) herb area in front of our back door. We need to trim it for sure and there are even herbs that we’ll never use, like licorice. But here was Jovie in front of the Rosemary pulling and smelling. She either figured it out herself that these plants smell good or she’s seen one of us do it.

It’s been a glorious day here in the UK and we’ve been spending a lot of time outside.
This is Drew’s new phone. He’s had it for almost a month now. He can pretty much do whatever his computer can do but on a smaller scale. I mean it’d be rough on the thumb if one has to compose an essay on this thing. But, besides that, this thing is a flashlight to Internet whiz bang. The UK is amazing in terms of getting high tech mobile for an affordable price. This thing is only £20. This is amazing since you can’t get this price in the US. There is a catch, the minutes is only 100 BUT, it only counts outgoing minutes where incoming is free. So it’s really not that bad. With the price he also gets 500 text and unlimited Internet. The last bit is the sweetest part for me since I don’t like talking on the phone anyways. You all know to just leave me an email, right? Or chat with me on IM.
