Hi!

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted here. I’ve been having too much fun in my other blog, www.scrapbit.com, making cards and scrapbook pages.

What’s new… nothing really. Just been really busy with work, school, and family. Drew got an A in economics, yeah!!! He’s been really good at explaining the whole economic imbalance with with. The me who’s freaking out about the recession and quite depressed each time I look to see how much $$ we’ve lost today in the stock market.

Well, M’s birthday is coming soon. So we’re busy getting her princess party together. Laters and if you have time, visit my other blog. It’s more fun :D Actually I’m thinking of letting Drew take over this. He’s so much funnier than me. You’d have great laughs when you visit.

Some Interesting Stats

How incredible technology has effected the world.

No Mood to Write

There’s not much to write about.
We’re so busy.
Drew’s swamped with school and upcoming test.
Savitri is finishing up a class and getting ready for two spring ones.
Emma think Santa is going to come tomorrow.
We’re quite happy.
The family’s doing great.
The pup is learning and growing.
The dog and cat plays.
I’ve got Christmas stuff all over the living room.
Not motivated to finish decorating.
Can I just sit and not do anything? :)

Just a Little Hello

It’s the end of the month. Wow! My summer class was over last Friday which means that summer will be over soon. Ahhh, where did the time go? I have two fall classes again this year and one will be really fun. We’ll play with current web technology and putting them into use in the classrooms. Maybe it’ll be so fun I’ll have more students next year :D This is the first time I’m teaching this course. It’ll be online too, so I’ll actually be in Indonesia, Germany, and Singapore when these courses happen.

It’s been a few weeks now too since Kato left us. We still miss him. But we buried him in front of our home, so we get to see him everyday. We have almost 3.5 acres and there’s a little hill between the house and the road and that’s where he lies. I love him! Shady is still somewhat sad we think. She’s getting better, not as bad as the first few days but not the old Shady as of yet. Who knows when we’ll get another dog. I’m still researching which is best for us, but we are 75% sure that we’ll be fostering after we come back from our trip (very soon!!).

There’s this shelter in KC, Wayside Waifs, that seems to have a good foster program. We’re going to try it and see what we think of fostering. Hopefully we won’t want to keep all the animals that we get :D

So this site of ourse… hmmm… I’m trying to think of ways to make it better. I mean it does get boring reading about us all the time but I just haven’t had the time to really do much. Even the layout is a template and I’m a web designer/developer. Eeek! We’ll see. Maybe after the trip I’ll have some inspiration and make the reading material more worthwhile and not just be a place for our family and friends to keep in touch and see how we’re doing here.

Eeek…

April is almost over! Wow, time is flying by. But at the same time, it’s feeling oh so sloooooow.

We’re going to Indonesia this August and I know I am very excited. Drew and Emma will go too and this will be their first time that my family will meet them. After three years, Drew is finally ok about going. He’s finally convinced that if something bad is going to happen to us, it will happen anyways, no matter where we’re at. He’s always so protective of us, and that’s very sweet of him, but at the same time I really need to visit my family. So I’m hoping that everything will be alright and we’ll be able to return in one piece and breathing. We already booked the tickets, we have dates and all that wonderful stuff, but haven’t purchased them. Which is really convenient because the base has to give us a thumbs up or down on the trip. This is the part that sucks. So, there’s a chance that we might not be able to go if the base thinks that it’s too dangerous.

Spring…. or not…

It has been very nice the past few weeks. Spring did come at last. Or so it did. Today the weather got cold again and tonight, it “feels like 29F” according to the weather channel. How dreadfully cold it feels to me this late Tuesday night. While I patiently wait for my files to upload to Office Depot’s site, I really feel the need to get up and turn the heat up a tad bit. But when I remember the other two who are fast asleep under their warm blankets, I know I shouldn’t since I hate it when I get too hot in bed and so I shouldn’t do that to them.

Another week or so since the last posting. Nothing new has really happened. Work has been very busy and so has the family life. Between the family, daily chores, and the different new things we’d like to do to the house, we have very little time for other happenings. But, we’re having a wonderfully grand time together, through the ups and downs, we are doing quite well. Till next time…

I just want to show you the dining room that I painted last month. It’s a Sherwin Williams color called watery. I love it and Drew loves it too. Here’s a picture of it:

First Tornado of 2007

Here we are in our storm shelter. Not quite comfortable but at least it’s all concrete.

We’re not quite ready for the storms. It’s a bit too early it seems but hey, global warming, right? Anyways, the basement is still not finished and it’s still messy. Also there’s really nothing that’s organized in here. There’s no bed to lay on, bla bla. So while I’m typing this Drew is getting the place more reasonable to stay for the night because it seems like the storm is going to continue on through the night. We had some hail earlier but it was really short. The hail storm was pretty big though.

So, I better publish before we do get something. Laters…

The big 3!

Well, somebody is going to be three this Monday!! Wow, can’t believe our baby isn’t a baby anymore. Time went by very fast!!! To celebrate we visited dad in Vegas. Since he can’t be here for her big day, we thought we’d go visit and celebrate also. Emma had a great time with dad.

They’re best buddies now and they have lots of laughs together. Today Emma said that she’s like daddy… she’s fun. Yeah, that means my 3-year-old knows that mommy is boring and serious. Oh well, somebody needs to be in charge, right?

So Monday we’re going to bring some cupcakes to school. She’ll have a little party with her little friends. Then when daddy comes home, we might have another little one here… it’s not the same… got to have a celebration at home. For her birthday Emma wanted a stuffed horse. She got one in Vegas and she loves it. It’s a puppet horse. She also has a little something from mom that dad will not like… musical instruments :D

Happy New Year everybody. Hope it’ll be a great one for all of you!!!

Went to MS for the holiday break. Had a good time and we met up with a few friends. They’re Drew’s old time buddies from school and youth group and of course his friend Scott and Jeff. We had plans on meeting up with more but time was too short. Had to go back to work for Savitri.

Emma got lots of presents and she’s very happy.

Xmas Shopping

I hate shopping. Especially Christmas shopping. Wait, rewind…. I love shopping, but I hate going shopping. At this point I’m almost leaning towards 100% online shopping. The shipping seems worth all the hassle of driving, finding a parking spot, fighting the crowd, not finding the item (oh, but it is available if you order it online), and having sore feet.

Today I went to the city, alone, to get some Savitri time and also to finish up the shopping. Called yesterday and the toy is available. When I got there, of course they’re all gone. Went to PBK, and again the one I needed was not in stock. I walked around the Plaza for an hour and left with a $7.50 shirt from TCP. I spent more at Joann’s. Stopped there for some fabric and ended up with some chalk, a blending pen, and water color pens… yes, they’re pens. Suppose to be “NOT MESSY.” We’ll see, right?

I think I was starting to hate the consumerism of Christmas. Christmas is suppose to be the birth of Christ, not the maxing out of the credit card season. When I was growing up Christmas was going to church and sometimes we’d exchange one gift. Now, it’s ok if you have the money and you want to buy a lot of stuff. The one I have a problem with are people who doesn’t have the money. So I was at the store and this lady was talking to her partner. Basically they’re broke but her cart didn’t have any indication of their financial situation. She said she’ll just charge them. Ahh…. This was interesting because I just read an article, either MSN or Yahoo on how people would charge their Christmas purchases, get their bill in February and spend the rest of the year paying it off. Wow!

I went to B&N after too but decided that there’s nothing really worth buying. I did get a latte, but that was it. I thought that I’d save a bit buying them online, free shipping too, and save a few penny. Leaving B&N I decided that I really want to be a financial consultant, I need to get my business started this break, think I should take up hand writing analysis as a hobby, be more successful career wise, and save more. I need to be more ambitious and be more discipline with myself. I think that’s my  new year’s resolution.

Thanksgiving

I made the best Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was really juicy and tasty. I also made homemade cranberry sauce. Way better than the canned ones and it was super easy to make.

What was on the menu?

Turkey - of course
Green bean casserole
Mashed potatoes
Stuffings
Corn
Gravy
Rolls
Pumpkin pie

The only thing that wasn’t homemade were the rolls. Maybe next time. My only one complaint was that the stuffing was saltier than I had wanted. I used butter in the stuffings and I also buttered and salted inside the turkey. So it was a double wammy. Not bad but could have been better with less salt.

Next year I want to invite my people. This year we had Drew’s people over.

Welcome to our blog site!!! Here you will find (hopefully) up-to-date information on Savitri and Andrew’s little family in Missouri. We are an Air Force family, so many of our family and friends are not near. To keep in touch and to see how things are going with us we came up with this site.

Today I have decided to add some Podcast. What’s that? Well Podcasts are audio/audio files that are automatically downloaded to your computer. Do you have to have an iPod? No. You just need to install a podcast receiver on your computer. But, if you do have a portable device (e.g. iPod), you can transfer the downloaded files to your portable. Some of my files are not all iPod friendly, so if you use iTunes, you might not get some of my none iTunes friendly extension. I like to use iPodder or now called Juice.

How do you set it up? Well, download a podcast reader first. Then you want to copy this url: http://www.planetwilder.com/?feed=rss2 and paste it into your reader. This tells your reader that you want to subscribe to my page. You can subscribe to many other podcast, like CNN and Comedy Central. You can learn French or Excel, etc. Each time you open your receiver your computer will automatically download new files. So if I have a new video/audio, you automatically receive the file without going to my site. It’s like your magazine subscription… no more buying it at the store, you get the magazine delivered to your doorstep!!

Too Many Parts

I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but I’m really excited about Christmas this year. Maybe it’s cause I have more Christmas decor than any other season and with the new house, I’m really excited to get this place in the winter mood!

Before I get on with the story let me start with Emma’s room. Her room is always, and I say ALWAYS, messy. I’d clean it and of course she’s there so one side would be clean and the other, which I JUST cleaned, would be messy. Almost EVERY single toy of hers has small annoying little parts which of course would be in different places. Every day I’d put her things away and every time it’s never to my satisfaction.

So while I was flipping through some catalogs (I’m the mail order queen here) I became quite annoyed. EVERYTHING has a little part to it. Check this page out from Land of Nod,  it’s insane!!! The Bingo game is a great idea, but I know for sure that those pieces would be all over the place in no time. I got Emma some cards. There’s a bucket for it but of course half of the cards are always everywhere else but the bucket.

Maybe I’m not a good mommy for not being supportive of all these little pieces but dang, I just hate those little clutters. Talked about it with Drew and he said, “she’s just 2.” But I just want a tidy 2-year-old. Is there such a thing?

Anyways, I’ll probably end up with the Bingo game but if I do, I know I’d be complaining about it when it comes time to clean up.

Podcast

I think I want to start podcasting sometimes soon. On what… dunno. I just need to practice for work and I don’t want to do work all the time.

I have been making cards, Christmas cards, and have been trading too. I have enough to send out to special people. So if you get one of my handmade card, then you’re considered special!!! I’m going to do more between now and Christmas so that more people can feel special :D I love making cards. It’s been really fun making them together with people who has the same love.

I have not a lot of scrapbooking. I want to but I really need to focus for that project. I need to have a day to myself. Maybe when Drew’s not busy I’ll do something.

Oh, we have grass!!! No pictures… Well I have some but not downloaded yet… but we have grass!!!!

November News…

Wow, it’ll be our 4th year here in Missouri next month. Can’t believe it since we only planned for two. We just built a house and I want to be at UCM for at least five years so that I can get some retirement. At least two more years and we’d probably be ready to go… unless something better comes along of course…

Life has been so chaotic since we moved. The whole moving process is just tiring. We’re still painting rooms and no curtains yet. We’ll get there… slowly… We did do something fun though, went to Hermann MO for Octoberfest. It’s a really nice town with small antique shops, B&B, and just a general beautiful area. We had some drinks, brats, and just a good time with the family. It was a nice break from our usual day-to-day lives. We only stayed there for a day, next time we’ll stay there for a weekend.

We’re still moving

I hope this is a common thing amongst movers. It’s been a month now and we’re still not all the way moved in. Still got tons of boxes and other things at the other house. Fortunately a lot of the mess is not in the main house, so we’re able to somewhat have a decen living condition and have guests if we’d like to.

Emma is loving the new house more and more. It just took her a little while, which we thought was pretty normal.

As you can see she’s pretty happy :D

Next big items are painting and window finishing. I so want to hire an interior designer or somebody to help me with colors and ideas. Books aren’t helping any because they’re not talking about my house. The upstairs bedrooms have color paint now, purple for Emma, sage for the guest/office, and blue for the bedroom. Will show photos soon.

Speaking of, I got a new camera for my birthday. It’s a Canon Rebel XTi. Yes, it’s a big one and I love it!!!! I’m still learning how to use it. It’s been a while since I took a photo class. But hey, since it’s digital I can just snap on and delete if it’s ugly. The picture above was with the camera with no flash. I like the no flash if I could.

It’s the middle of June. WOW! Time goes by!!! We have been busy with both houses. Trying to get one ready to sell and the other to complete. So far things are great, just tiring and we can’t wait to just relax either in the screened in porch or the jacuzzi tub.

We went to the air show today on base. I’m not big on airplanes (it’s like a car, it gets me to where I need to be) and the only other thing I would want to do with an airplane is fly it. So it was ok (plus this is my 3rd time… the first two I was working it), but Emma had a fun time “flying” a C-130. We also got her face painted… but no pics… bad mommy!!

After that we went shopping, came home and napped. I had a huge headache and Emma was just tired. She klonked out soon after we got in the car. That was 3:30/4. By the time I got groceries put away it was 4:30-ish. I went and napped. Didn’t get up till 7:30! Emma was tired at 10:30, so now father and daughter’s asleep. I am wide awake :\

I think I want to scrapbook somemore… dunno… I’m awake. I am tired of being online anyways. I feel like shopping all the time when I’m on this thing.

Anyways, happy weekend. More later!
